You don't need a fancy tool to make AI text sound human. Most of the time, the draft is 90% there — it just has a handful of tells that scream "model." Here are the seven edits we run on every order, in the order that fixes the most for the least effort.
"In today's fast-paced world," "It's important to note that," "Moreover," "In conclusion." These are the cheapest tells. Search your draft for them and delete. Nine times out of ten the sentence is stronger without them.
AI loves uniform 15–22 word sentences. Read a paragraph aloud. If every line lands with the same weight, force variety: make one sentence brutally short. Stretch another with a clause, a detail, a turn. Burstiness is the single biggest "human" signal.
"Do not" → "don't", "it is" → "it's", "we will" → "we'll". Models overuse formal forms. Sprinkling contractions (not every sentence) drops the formality that gets you flagged.
A real writer leaves fingerprints: a small opinion ("I think this advice is overrated"), a specific odd detail ("the client's dog kept barking"), a tiny self-correction ("well, mostly"). Models don't invent these. You should.
"A robust, scalable, efficient solution." Pick one. Two at most. Stacked adjectives are a model's comfort blanket — and a dead giveaway.
"Leverage," "navigate," "delve," "unlock the power of," "drive impact." Swap for plain verbs: use, handle, dig into, open, help. Your writing gets clearer and less "AI" at the same time.
Paste into a free detector (GPTZero, ZeroGPT, Writer). Target under 20% "AI." Any paragraph that spikes — rewrite it in your own voice and re-run. Don't chase 0%; aim for "looks human enough."
None of this is cheating if you're improving your own writing or cleaning up a first draft. It becomes a problem only if you're using it to deceive a teacher or fake authorship. We use it to make client content readable — that's the whole business.
